This might be the sign you need to pivot your brand.
Because sometimes… it’s not about fixing what you’ve built, it’s about finally aligning it with who you’ve become.
I recently rebranded Moon Soldier, not just visually, but entirely, concept of the brand and all. It used to be a clothing brand. Aesthetically beautiful, deeply personal, and full of intention… but something wasn’t clicking anymore.
It took a personal moment of self-discovery to see what had been in front of me the whole time: I love analytics. I love social media. I love teaching, learning, sharing, and helping people understand what makes content work.
I’ve been doing it for years, advising brands I worked for on best practices, analytics, content improvements, but I never saw it as the business. Until now.
So I pivoted Moon Soldier into what it is today: a creator consultancy and digital product platform for helping small brands and content creators grow their platforms with strategy, soul, and confidence.
And the clothing? That’s still here, it’s just a part of it now, not the whole.
Why I Was Terrified to Rebrand
At first, I thought maybe I should build something new. Maybe I create a second brand Moon Soldier University and teach everything I know there. But it didn’t sit right.
Moon Soldier means everything to me. That name holds so much personal power. So shifting away from it felt… off.
Eventually, I realised: you don’t need to abandon your brand to evolve it.
You can pivot. You can grow. You can change.
Now, when someone signs up for my mentorship program, they get the sweatshirts I once sold, for free as a welcome gift. Because Moon Soldier is still clothing. It’s still aesthetic. But now it also teaches, mentors, and leads.
If You’re Resisting a Rebrand…
Ask yourself: Why?
What’s stopping you? What are you afraid you’ll lose and what could you actually gain? What could you carry over from your old brand into the new one?
This isn’t about starting again. It’s about building something that feels more you.
A rebrand, when done with intention, can give your business fresh momentum and your creativity a second wind.
And even if you're rebranding the visual but not the concept of your business, why will the new brand work, compared to what it is now? Are you modernising it? What isn't working currently? All these questions are relevant but also what you audience or people say about your brand.
What I Wish I Knew Before Starting My Business
If I could go back and talk to myself when I started Moon Soldier, here’s what I’d say:
Slow down. Don’t rush it. Your business will grow if you give it the time and space to do so. I absorbed everything I could at the time, but I still rushed in some areas, like when I planned to release black and beige jumpers, a misunderstanding with the manufacturer meant they all arrived in black. Lesson learned? Oh 100%, please double-check everything.
Also, you need the right mindset. This isn’t a “get rich quick” journey. No matter what people online say. Building a business takes time, effort, and knowledge. You might get lucky once, but most of it? It’s consistency and clarity and understanding of your audience.
Use your best skills. Push those forward. That’s what will grow your business.
Final Takeaway
Your brand should evolve as you evolve.
If the thing you built no longer reflects who you are or what you do, that’s not failure. That’s wisdom, that's growth and that's okay.
Let your business grow with you. Let it reflect the person you are now, not the one who started it.
And before you start any business at all? Know your strengths. Know your values. And know that doing it right takes time.
